EV policies impact everything from incentives that reduce the upfront cost of EVs to actions that support residential and public charging. The U.S. government has spent $19 billion via the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that includes charging infrastructure, purchasing electric buses through transit agencies, enhancing equitable access to charging infrastructure, and expanding micro-mobility. At the state level, electric utilities and state organizations have also budgeted millions to support EV adoption through clean energy programs, rebates, and tax credits.
